Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s Coach, Gareth Baber has praised the players for their focus to win this season despite all the criticism.

Speaking from Paris, Baber says this was evident as three of the eight players in the current squad have never been to London and Paris and are nominated for the Rookie of the Year Award.

Meli Derenalagi, Aminiasi Tuimaba and Vilimoni Botitu were nominated alongside Samoa’s Johnny Vaili.

Baber says he takes great pride in the team.

Fiji needs to finish ahead of USA in Paris this weekend to claim their fourth HSBC World Sevens 7s title.

Barring any upsets, Fiji is likely to meet Scotland or France in the quarter final, they are likely to take on USA or South Africa in the semifinal, and New Zealand or Australia in the final.
