The Fiji Pearls were thrashed 93-19 by the New Zealand Invitational Men’s Netball team last night at Pullman Arena in Auckland in their first match of the Cadbury Mixed Netball Series.

Fiji struggled to keep up throughout the four quarters as they were heavily penalised for contact and obstruction.

The physicality of the New Zealand Men’s Netball side was shown early in the match when Unaisi Rauluni was forced from the court after being on the wrong end of an accidental elbow from New Zealand Goal Defence, Daniel Rich.

Meanwhile, the Silver Ferns also defeated the All Stars Netball team 61-45 last night.

The Fiji Pearls meet the All Stars Netball team at 6 o’clock this evening in the second match. The Silver Ferns meet the Fiji Pearls at 8pm tomorrow.

The Cadbury Mixed Netball Series is being used by the Silver Ferns and Fiji Pearls to prepare for the Netball World Cup in Liverpool, England which starts on the 12th of next month.
