Newly elected SODELPA Party President, Ro Filipe Tuisawau says it is important that all SODELPA groups, unions and others work together so that Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama and his government’s term comes to an end.

Speaking after his election at Yaroi in Savusavu, Ro Filipe says that government is mixing the work of politics and the Vanua.

Ro Filipe says SODELPA should strengthen its ties with the church and the Vanua.

He says that in 1997, Sitiveni Rabuka and Jai Ram Reddy put together a constitution and in 2006 it was unfortunately taken away.

Ro Filipe told the SODELPA members that in the 1997 Constitution the church and the iTaukei were well protected.

He says SODELPA is all for leadership that listens.

Ro Filipe says that in March this year, Rabuka wrote to the Prime Minister asking for a committee to be formed to review the constitution with regards to everything to do with land and the iTaukei.

He says as of now the Prime Minister still has not gotten back to them and this will make bi-partisanship impossible.

The new SODELPA President says this shows that the government is not willing to work together.

Ro Filipe also says that the government is also electing the chairpersons of the provincial councils and the village headmen.

He went on to say that he was glad that during the party management board meeting last night, they were all willing and forgiving.

We are yet to receive comments from the government.
