The Fijian Government continues to invest in making Lautoka a better place to live, work and play and according to Investment Fiji reports, a total of $3.3 billion worth of investment was recorded in the Western Division between 2009 and 2018.
This was revealed by Minister for Industry, Trade, and Local Government Premila Kumar while speaking at the handing over ceremony of a new five-tonne Compactor Garbage truck to Lautoka City Council by the Government of Japan.
She says that the Government has invested an estimated $12.6 million in the Lautoka Swimming Pool project which is to be completed by the end of this year.
She says the Churchill Park upgrade project has cost the Government $2.8 million.
Kumar says Government contributed $400,000 to the Market Extension project and Tavakubu Satellite Market cost $175,000.
Kumar says this, in turn, attracts residential and commercial growth.
