A taxi driver who was parked on a lane along Muanikau Road is alleging that a Police Officer who was on a motorbike damaged the side mirror of his taxi earlier this afternoon however Police are saying that the driver left the Police Station without providing any proof.
Mohammed Iqbal says he has filed a report at Totogo Police Station however he alleges that an officer threatened him not to take his case to the media or his case will not proceed further.
Iqbal claims the incident happened at around 1.30pm this afternoon at Muanikau Road in Suva.
Speaking to Fijivillage, Iqbal claims he was going to the University of the South Pacific to drop a passenger when he saw two police officers on motorbikes approaching from the front.
Iqbal alleges he then stopped his car so the two officers could pass by when one of the officers allegedly threw a punch at his car and damaged the side mirror on the driver’s side.
Iqbal alleges the officers did not stop after the incident.
He alleges he did not move his car after the incident and the two officers returned 20 minutes later and threatened to charge him with careless driving.
When we asked him why he was parked on a lane on the road, he says he parked there to show respect to the passing Police Officers.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirms a report has been lodged however Iqbal refused to provide proof of the damage to the vehicle or his medical report, and left the station.
She says the investigation cannot proceed if the complainant does not cooperate with Police.
