The Acting CEO of the Fiji Roads Authority, Kamal Prasad says that contractors must complete fixing potholes within half an hour and people must inform FRA if any work exceeds the time-frame.
This comes after SODELPA MP and Public Accounts Committee member, Aseri Radrodro questioned the FRA on why they control traffic for a long period of time.
Prasad says FRA should not carry out temporary traffic management between 7am and 9am because there should be no road works at that time.
Meanwhile Prasad says construction and repair work of roads in the rural and maritime areas are also a priority for the authority.
Prasad says they have a particular focus in Taveuni as it is a major tourist location.
He says divisional commissioners identify roads that are to be fixed and the authority then prioritises which roads need to be fixed.
He also says FRA had a list of over 140 rural roads that needed to be fixed from 2015 and the authority has completed work on 120 of these roads.
Prasad adds that there are FRA staff placed on six maritime islands as there is much work needed such as road construction and works on the jetty.
