The Southern Division Duavata Community Policing Sports Tournament in partnership with the Fiji New Chinese Association kicked off at Albert Park today.
The tournament comprises of community members from 27 Police Posts in the Southern Division who will participate in 7s Rugby and rope pulling.
The event also marked the 70th year Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Officiating at the event, Minister for Youth and Sports Parveen Bala extended his appreciation towards the Fiji Police Force for coordinating the event to educate and empower the youths of the Southern Division to bring about change and encourage one another in engaging in development activities in communities.
Event Organizer and Divisional Manager Community Policing Southern Division, Tevita Ranacika says the event is organized to raise awareness for youths of different areas to keep them away from illegal activities like drugs.
He says the prize for the tournament winner is $200 cash plus Courts shopping vouchers from which youths can purchase equipment such as brushcutters and BBQ stands which can be used productively.
