Fiji Airways Men's National 7s Team Coach, Gareth Baber says the challenge for players like Semi Radradra and other overseas-based players would be whether they are able to spend enough time with the Fiji team to play in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Baber says ultimately the contracts held by the clubs of overseas-based players will have a say whether a player is released or not for the HSBC World 7s Series and next year's Olympics.

Players like Semi Radradra and Semi Kunatani have showed interest in representing Fiji in the 2020 Olympics.

Radradra had an impressive outing at the Rugby World Cup where he scored two tries in four matches, beat 29 defenders and made 8 clean breaks.

Radradra has represented Fiji in the IRB Junior Rugby Championship in 2011, the 2013 Rugby League World Cup in England, the 2018 7s Rugby World Cup in San Francisco and the 2019 15s Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Baber says Radradra's challenge like other players will be whether  they will be able to play in tournaments during the season, to get that experience, have that learning as a group and how much time they are going to be able to spend with the squad to get themselves into a position to go and play in the Olympics.

The national 7s team is currently preparing to defend their Oceania 7s title.

The Oceania 7s will begin next Thursday at the ANZ Stadium.
