This is compared to the 154 drivers charged for speeding and two drivers charged for drunk driving yesterday.
Police say speeding and drunk driving have been the major causes of road accidents and road fatalities this year.
The highest number of drunk driving cases in the last 24 hours was in the Western Division which is 5 cases.
Police also recorded 2 cases of careless driving and 5 cases of failing to produce a driver's license.
72 drivers were arrested for other offences.

Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra is urging drivers to think of other people.
He says drivers should think about those who have lost their lives or are suffering in the hospital or at home because of road accidents.
Mishra says some have been permanently disabled and have lost their mobility.
