A 29-year-old farmer of Tailevu who is charged with a count of abduction has been released on bail by the Nausori Magistrates Court.
It is alleged the man eloped with a 17-year-old student on 31st December last year. This is the day she was missing from home.
Police say the man met the victim and allegedly took her to his brother’s place in Nasinu and stayed with her.
The victim was reported missing by the village headman on the 1st of January at the Korovou Police Station and upon searching police found her staying with the accused who was subsequently arrested.
The case has been adjourned to the 3rd of next month.
