The Minister for Health, Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete has confirmed that the medical ship, MV Veivueti is in Kadavu and will later go to Southern Lau on as part of the governments' response to Tropical Cyclone Sarai.
MV Veivueti left for Kadavu on Saturday night.
Dr. Waqainabete says the ship has public health professionals who are working around the clock and are making sure they have public health advocacy on water and sanitation.
He adds that they are trying to make sure that they reduce the possibility of communicable diseases such as typhoid, dengue and leptospirosis coming to the fore after the cyclone.
The Minister has also confirmed that there were some damages to their facilities in Southern Lau and Kadavu.
He adds that the MV Veivueti has carpenters and equipment that will be needed to provide necessary repairs in Kadavu and Southern Lau.
