A 24-year-old man has been sentenced to three years imprisonment for setting fire to a farm house belonging to a 62-year-old man in Seaqaqa.

The incident occurred in October 2018.

Saiyad Ali was convicted for a count of arson.

The court was told that the 62-year-old man had looked after Ali for three to four months and had made Ali the caretaker of his farm house.

Ali was not happy with his pay and the way the 62-year-old man looked after him and burnt the farm house, causing $14,000 worth of damages.

A two years non-parole period has been set.
