Chiefs coach Warren Gatland has vented his frustrations over the All Blacks player resting policy for the new Super Rugby season.
This policy allows All Blacks player to play no more than 180 minutes of rugby across the first three Super Rugby matches and this has affected Gatland’s side who will have a fresh new look for their match against Blues tomorrow.
Gatland has named some of his experienced players to start in the bench including the likes of Anton Lienert-Brown, Atu Moli, Angus Ta'avao and Brad Weber.
Speaking to media in Hamilton, Gatland concedes that some of his more questionable selections are due to the All Blacks' rest policy, rather than his own planning.
He says they are trying to get the balance between bringing those players in and trying to pick a strong team to face the Blues in their opening match.
The Chiefs will kick-off their Super Rugby against the Blues at 6.05pm tomorrow.
