The Methodist Church in Fiji is to meet with the Commissioner of Police Commodore Esala Teleni later this week to discuss issues in regards to some Methodist Church ministers who are alleged to have been on the police payroll to provide information to the Qarase government.
Assistant Church general secretary Reverend Tevita Nawadra said they are thankful that the commissioner himself made the approach to have the meeting.
Nawadra added that the church has nothing to hide, and is willing to cooperate with the police department in their investigations and once the investigations are done, those ministers who are found guilty will be penalized.
It is alleged that some Methodist Church ministers were on the payroll for the Police National Intelligence Bureau as informers for the bureau to provide information on the military to the Qarase government before December 2006 and after.
Some officers from the Intelligence Bureau have been sent home by the Police Commissioner pending investigations.
