Fiji's trade deficit stands at a staggering $1.8 billion and stakeholders have been urged to find solutions to this escalating problem to ensure sustainable economic growth.
Speaking at the Food Symposium in Lami this morning, Reserve Bank of Fiji Governor Sada Reddy said the current trade deficit is simply unsustainable.
However, Reddy said there are some positive indications from various sectors in attempts to reduce the trade deficit.
Reddy said a concerted effort needs to be made to increase exports and reduce imports.
