The Suva High Court this morning set a trial date for former General Manager of Fiji National Provident Fund, Olota Rokovunisei for next year.
FICAC filed separate information on Rokovunisei and Foana Nemani in court today.
The two were jointly charged with extortion by a public officer and abuse of office however FICAC had earlier made an application for separate trials for the two, as Nemani is still in New Zealand for medical treatment.
Rokovunisei's lawyer, Kafoa Muaror asked the case to be adjourned for four weeks so that he is able to advise his client on the plea to be taken on the severed charges.
The case has been adjourned to 18th March for Rokovunisei to take a plea while the trial proper starts from 9th April next year.
Rokovunisei and Nemani are alleged to have defrauded FNPF by authorizing payment of responsibility allowance for each other the sum of $33,333 to Rokovunisei and $35,911 to Nemani without authorization.
