People in Nabekavu, Labasa felt the earth move just after 2pm today.

The Mineral Resources Department has confirmed that an earth tremor occurred at 40 kilometers North West of Labasa at a depth of 25 kilometers.

The tremor measured 3.6 on the Richter scale.

No damages have been reported.

Meanwhile, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake occurred at 2:48 pm local time within the Vanuatu region at a depth of 26.4km beneath the earth's surface.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre in collaboration with the Seismology Section of the Mineral Resources Department confirmed that there is no direct threat of any regional tsunami being triggered from such moderate size earthquake.
