The military said former government minister, Kenneth Zinck who has now fled to Australia is making allegations against the military to gain publicity so that he can get political asylum.
Zinck is now in Australia and said he wants a protection visa to stay in Australia until the next elections in Fiji.
He claimed that he managed to flee from Fiji although some soldiers were chasing him.
However military spokesperson, Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni said people need to realize that anyone can make allegations but they have to be substantiated.
Zinck is currently on a three month tourist visa and is now seeking asylum in Australia.
