A heavy rain alert is now in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Northern Lau, Lomaiviti, Yasawa and the Mamanuca Group meaning flash flooding is also expected.
The Nadi Weather Office said that a trough of low pressure lying to the north of Fiji is expected to intensify and move over the group by midday tomorrow and remain over the group until Monday.
Rain and thunderstorm is expected to become frequent and heavy from later tomorrow over Vanua Levu and the areas mentioned.
Meanwhile, a damaging swell alert is now in force for the coastal areas of Viti Levu, Kadavu, Beqa, Vatulele, Lomaiviti, Southern Lau, Yasawa and Mamanuca group.
