Police said Fiji Trades Union Congress general secretary Felix Anthony is more than welcome to lodge a complaint with them in relation to his allegations that some union officials have been beaten up.
Director Operations SSP Rusiate Tudravu said they stand ready to look into the allegations and will investigate the matter thoroughly.
Felix Anthony has today come out and said that he has been beaten up while being held in custody.
He has also come out in support of Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr’s comments that some unionists are being detained.
Anthony has told Pacific Beat that others have also been victims of this.
We are trying to speak to Anthony on when this alleged incident occurred and whether he has filed a complaint.
