A 35-year-old man of Delainavesi charged with aiding prisoners to escape has been sentenced to 21 months imprisonment with a non-parole period of 15 months by the Suva Magistrates Court this morning.
Savenaca Raqauqau pleaded guilty to assisting Sanaila Tabuavula, Frank Konave and Viliame Tuibua to escape from Korovou Prison on the 18th of this month.
While sentencing him, Magistrate Chaitanya Latchman highlighted that the maximum sentence for this offence is seven years imprisonment.
