19 families from the central and northern divisions have had their home loan accounts written off as part of the social housing policy.
This follows on from 13 other families whose home loan accounts were written off previously.
Housing Authority chief executive officer Alipate Naiorosui said to date a total of 239 Fijian families have benefitted from the social housing policy nationwide.
Naiorosui said under the social housing policy, those homeowners who have paid one and a half of the principal loan amount, are unemployed because of advanced age or disability and can prove genuine financial difficulty - qualify for assistance.
Naiorosui added the policy is not a hand out but a program that is designed to assist low and middle income Fijians own their houses sooner rather than later.
