More than 200 new jobs are expected to be created when two local supermarkets open in the Central Division.
One of the supermarkets New World Limited has signed on as one of the tenants of Damodar City Center.
With this expansion in the country, New World will create 150 new jobs.
New World chief commercial officer Govind Yajurvedi said they have invested $3 million in their new outlet in the complex because it will be the new place to be in Suva in the future.
The other supermarket Rajendra Prasad Foodtown Limited is expected to open next Thursday in Nabua.
The new supermarket will be employing at least 50 people.
Director Rajendra Prasad said they have decided to open up in Nabua to provide new competition and service the densely populated area.
