Trade and economic relations within the Melanesian Spearhead group members have blossomed since the MSG trade agreement was signed.
This was revealed today by Papua New Guinea's former Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare today in his opening address of the MSG silver jubilee celebration.
Sir Michael said PNG is fortunate to have investors from Fiji which includes Communications Fiji Limited the parent company of FM96, Viti FM, Legend FM, Radio Sargam, Navatarang and Fijivillage.com.
Sir Michael added that from a mere three items which includes tinned fish, tea and beef on Fiji's trade schedule with PNG, it has now gone over a thousand tariff free items.
Meanwhile, former Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka said it's great to see the group come this far.
USP will host the three days silver jubilee celebrations.
