Fiji Trades Union Congress General Secretary, Felix Anthony has today come out and said that he has been beaten while being held in custody.
Anthony has come out in support of Australian Foreign Minister, Bob Carr's comments that some unionists are being detained.
Anthony has told Pacific Beat that others have also been victims of this.
We are trying to speak to Anthony on when this alleged incident occurred and whether he has filed a complaint.
We have also contacted the Police and they are currently analysing Anthony's statement, and will comment on the allegations of the beatings later today.
In a press conference earlier this week, Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum stressed that unionists are not being targeted.
However his message to the Australian Foreign Minister is that those who allegedly break the laws of the country will be charged.
Stay with us we will have more on this later this afternoon.
