A 22-year-old mechanic of Samabula who has been charged with one count of dangerous driving occasioning death, has been remanded until the next court sitting.
Kishan Nath Sharma appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court this afternoon.
Sharma’s lawyer made a bail application for his client but was refused by Magistrate Rupasinghe because of his own safety.
Police said that Sharma was trying to overtake another vehicle when he allegedly hit 40-year-old Sekaia Lasarusa at Fletcher Road who was crossing the road on Sunday.
Lasarusa died at the CWM Hospital .
The case will be recalled on the 24th of this month.
