A total of $352,000 of sales was earned through this year’s National Women Expo.
Minister of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Rosy Akbar says that this amount has generated income for 600 women artisans.
Akbar says from the eight divisional craft shows the women artisans were able to take home just over $100,000.
She says the Expo has allowed them to identify 7 women artisans who had travelled to Indonesia immediately after the Expo to attend the entrepreneurship training at the Ciputra Centre in Jakarta.
Repeka Tuilawa of Nakorovou, Rewa who was one of the trainees in Jakarta described it as a truly empowering experience.
Meanwhile, the Fijian government has allocated $500,000 to the Fiji Women’s Expo for 2016.
