The year 10 external examination results are out.
The Year 10 examinations was reintroduced this year as part of the reforms undertaken by the Ministry of Education to raise the performance bar in the education sector.
Education Minister, Doctor Mahendra Reddy says they are releasing the Year 10 results first as they have a lesser number of students compared to Year 8.
The Year 8 Results will be released next Tuesday.
Doctor Reddy says they are doing all they can to ensure that all results are released before Christmas so parents and students have ample time to prepare for the 2016 academic year.
He says with the abolishment of scaling and the provision of raw marks, the true status of teachers and students performance will be revealed.
All Year 10 students, parents and guardians are requested to obtain their results from their respective district education offices or log onto the Ministry of Education website on www.education.gov.fj.
The Ministry has announced automatic progression until Year 12 but he wishes to make it clear to all parents and students that they can repeat if they wish to improve their results.
Doctor Reddy says schools should accommodate parents and students that wish to repeat to improve their performance. For those that fail and will progress to Year 11, the Ministry will ensure that extra attention is given to them so that they improve in the weak areas identified in their Year 10 examination results.
