The Nasinu Town Council rate arrears currently stands at more than $8 million.
CEO Akhtar Ali says rate payers are equal contributors of developments in the Nasinu area therefore, they should also be responsible.
Ali says they have introduced placing charges on the property scheme from last year especially for businesses and due to this the business rate payers are now trying to clear their arrears.
He confirms that no legal action was taken against any rate payer last year.
He says those who cleared their arrears between 1st to the 31st of this month will be given a discount of 7% and for those who clear their arrears between the 1st to the 29th of next month will be given a discount rate of 5%.
Ali says Nasinu rate payers should take good advantage of the discount offer period in January and February this year.
