Two men charged by Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption for causing the loss of $33,012 to the Ministry of Education have pleaded not guilty in the Suva Magistrates Court this morning.
Josaia Dinono is charged with one count of abuse of office and one count of general dishonesty causing a loss.
It is alleged that between 1st January 2012 and 31st August 2012 in Suva while being employed as Clerical Officer with the Ministry of Education, did arbitrary acts for gain in abuse of the authority of his office, where he facilitated the processing of false payments amounting to $ 33,012 to be made to “ Dynamic Solutions ” which was prejudicial to the rights of the Ministry of Education.
Venktesh Naidu who is the Director of Dynamic Solutions is alleged to have caused payments amounting to $33,012 to be made to the said Company and as result of that conduct obtained a financial advantage amounting to $33,012 from the Ministry of Education and knowing that the said Company was not eligible to receive the financial advantage.
The two men were given a chance to elect High Court or the Magistrates Court for the proceedings and they chose the Suva Magistrates Court where the matter will be called on the 20th of February next year.
