2,500 teachers’ positions are expected to be filled by teachers that took a job test in different venues around the country yesterday.

Deputy Permanent Secretary Education Timoci Bure says the test is done to ensure that they get the best teachers into the classroom.

He says in the past they have had cases where some teachers did not have the right qualification or did not have a good command of English which is necessary to communicate with students.

The teachers sat for an English Proficiency Test and also a separate Job Test which was a general knowledge test of what was expected from them as teachers.

The results are expected to be out by next Wednesday and the teachers will be informed by the Ministry.
