It has been made clear by the Education Ministry that schools are not allowed to set an entry mark level for students.

This is following concerns that some schools are continuing with this practice that has already been abolished.

Deputy Permanent Secretary Timoci Bure says all that is required for a Year 8 student to progress to a secondary school for Year 9 is a pass in the Year 8 examination.

Bure has also stressed that schools should have already sent offer letters to students that applied for a place in their school.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary for Education says parents can call him on 8909614 if they continue to face these issues.
