We have now seen the new era of light.

These were the words of the Village Headman of Naivicula in Tailevu, Simione Vasuva after the commissioning of the Rural Electrification Projects at Navuca and Nakorouto Settlements by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

Vasuva says this Rural Electrification initiative will benefit more than 250 villagers.

He says they are very grateful to the current government for allowing the village for the first time ever to use electricity.

Vasuva says the elders of the respective villages are very fortunate to have come across a government that provided them with what they have dreamt of for generations.

He adds that their children will now be able to study and live in a more sustainable and safer environment.

Bainimarama says this is part of teamwork to ensure that the 8 years of economic growth are shared by everyone in the country.

He says $42.6 million has been allocated to electrify homes in rural areas around Fiji this year.
