Two Fijian rugby players have been recognised by ESPNscrum for their performance in 2017.

They are Marika Koroibete and Alivereti Raka.

Koroibete was recognised by ESPNscrum as a Breakthrough Player of 2017.

ESPNscrum is an online news site based in United Kingdom dedicated to providing the latest news in Rugby union.

It also keeps an in‑depth statistics on every international rugby player and rugby nation.

The website said Koroibete could easily be one of the most dynamic forces at the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

It says Koroibete has exceptional ball‑handling and tackling abilities.

ESPNscrum also said that its wish for 2018 was that 23-year-old Alivereti Raka who plays for Clermont will represent the Flying Fijians along Nemani Nadolo rather than France with Virimi Vakatawa.

Last month, Raka scored the fastest hat‑trick in European rugby for 20 years, doing so in just 25 minutes.

Raka who is married to a French woman and has a baby daughter, would have already qualified on existing World Rugby residency grounds having lived in France since November 2014.

But it is claimed he is planning to apply for French citizenship.
It would be a necessary step, under plans unveiled by FFR president Bernard Laporte who told World Rugby that France would only consider French citizens for the national side.
