Former NRL powerhouse Semi Radradra could be playing for the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians as early as June this year.
This was after he signed a two-year contract with Bordeaux with a view of representing Fiji in the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
According to Fox Sports Australia, Radradra will now turn his attention to forcing his way into John McKee’s Flying Fijians squad, as well as the national sevens team at April’s Commonwealth Games, after a spectacular debut season with Toulon.
McKee said this week that Radradra had signalled his intention to stay in rugby since last November.
McKee says that he had spoken to Radradra in November and he expressed that he wanted to play for the Flying Fijians.
The Flying Fijians coach will be travelling to Europe later this month to get some face‑to‑face time and club visits, but Radradra is high on his list to talk to and he will be visiting Toulon soon.
McKee says that if Radradra keeps up the current form, fans can expect to see him playing for the Flying Fijians as early as this year.
With damaging wings, Nemani Nadolo and Josua Tuisova featuring on the wings for Fiji, McKee says that Radradra would likely push for a position in the national squad at outside centre.
The Flying Fijians will host Romania, Georgia and Tonga this year, before three yet‑to‑be‑announced fixtures against tier‑one nations in November.
Fiji is expected to play Ireland, Scotland and Wales during their end of the season tour this year.
And while they will come up against the Wallabies and Wales again in the 2019 World Cup pool stages, they are the third ranked side in the pool.
