Residents of Lautoka have raised concerns regarding water tank deliveries as they approach the planned water shutdown this weekend.

People had gone to Gurbachan Singh’s Steel Mill Limited to purchase their water tanks last month to prepare themselves for the water cut this weekend.

Gurbachan Singh’s Steel Mill, Suva Branch Manager Raj Kumar has confirmed that they did face some issues at their Lautoka branch in relation to the 1100 litres and 2000 litres water tanks that were not delivered on time.

Kumar stated that they had received orders for more than 300 tanks however their machines can only make 24 tanks in a day.

He has confirmed that they have delivered 270 tanks already and will deliver the remaining 30 tanks before 6pm today for their customers in Lautoka.

Kumar says the managers in Lautoka were supposed to liaise with the Suva branch in relation to the production of water tanks and then accept orders which they did not do.
