Tension is brewing in SODELPA as some executives of the party are calling for a Special General Meeting to review the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between SODELPA and the People’s Democratic Party.
One of the executives calling for the Special General Meeting is SODELPA’s Vice President Ro Dona Takalaiyale, who says that all these issues including the appointment of PDP’s, Vijay Singh as SODELPA’s Vice President at that time needs to be discussed.
Ro Dona’s supporters are now concerned that SODELPA Leader Sitiveni Rabuka is saying that he does not even know whether Ro Dona is a paid member of the party as there is no record to prove that.
However, Ro Dona’s supporters say that they have witnesses that Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa had paid for all the Rewa members and had given $50.
They say that Ro Teimumu had paid for about 12 members and the party membership fee is $2 per member.
According to the supporters, no receipt or change was issued to Ro Teimumu, however, the names of the people were recorded.
Ro Dona Takalaiyale is calling for SODELPA President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu to call the Special General Meeting.
They also say Vijay Singh’s appointment has been rescinded internally however this also has to be done formally in the Special General Meeting.
Some members are also claiming that it seems Rabuka is now listening to people like Lynda Tabuya more than the others who have built SODELPA.
We will have more later today.
