As we celebrate International Women’s Day, the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre says women should not be dressing up to prevent crime as they should wear what they want to.
Centre Coordinator Shamima Ali says women should be able to walk where they want to as every place should be safe for women as it is for men.
But Ali says women should still follow the rules and dress appropriately when they are in a formal setting.
Tonight’s march will also see the launching of government’s delivery protocols for Violence Against Women.
The Reclaim the Night March that coincides with International Women’s Day will begin at 6.30 tonight from the Suva Flea Market to Government Buildings.
