The salvage operation for MV Spirit of Altruism which is stuck on Cakau Davui Reef, just past Levuka, is now underway.

All 134 passengers of the MV Spirit of Altruism arrived safely in Natovi on the MV Spirit of Harmony last night.

Patterson Shipping Spokesperson David Patterson says they were all safely transferred on fibreglass boats to the MV Spirit of Harmony.

Patterson says there was a delay in the transfer of the passengers because they were following their safety procedures.

8 vehicles are also on board the ship.

He says the ship had engine problems and drifted to the reef.

The ship left Natovi at 7.30am yesterday for Nabouwalu.
