Australia's rugby sevens captain James Stannard has been ruled out of the Commonwealth Games after being punched outside a kebab shop in Sydney.
Stannard sustained a fractured skull in the incident last Friday while a 22‑year‑old British man has been charged in connection with the incident
He says he is "heartbroken" to be ruled out however he adds he is not angry.
Stannard would have been competing in his third Commonwealth Games.
The Commonwealth Games starts tomorrow while the 7s competition begins next Friday.
Meanwhile Fiji will face off against Wales, Uganda and Sri Lanka in their pool games in the 7s competition.
