Fiji’s top weightlifter Manueli Tulo will be competing in the Men’s 56kg category at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
The 28-year-old will start the Snatch category with a lift of 250kg at Carrara Sports Arena.
The weightlifting competition gets underway this hour.
Tulo had also competed in weightlifting at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and won Fiji's first ever gold medal at the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2008.
Team Fiji also takes part in the boxing competition today.
21-year-old Police Officer Jone Davule will take part in the Men’s 64kg will face 30-year-old Louis Colin of Mauritius.
This fight will be at 2.47pm today.
Winston Hill will fight in the Welterweight division against Lyndel Marcelling of Saint Lucia at 3.17pm on Saturday.
Fiji last won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in 1982 in Brisbane which was won by light heavyweight boxer Sani Fine.
