The Fiji Pearls have lost 88-30 to Jamaica in their Pool A match of the netball competition at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

The Fiji Pearls were trailing 27-6 at halftime.

Fiji’s top weightlifter, Manueli Tulo has finished in 4th place in the Clean and Jerk 130kg of the weightlifting competition. 

He failed to clear 145kg in his third attempt of the Clean and Jerk. Tulo also failed to clear 110kg in his third attempt in the snatch category in the Men’s 56kg category. 

Tulo only cleared 104kg in his first attempt.  He also failed to clear 108kg in the snatch in his second attempt.

21-year-old Police Officer Jone Davule of Fiji has lost by a unanimous decision to 30-year-old Louis Colin of Mauritius in the Men’s Boxing 64kg. 

Winston Hill will fight in the Welterweight division against Lyndel Marcelling of Saint Lucia at 3.17pm Saturday.

In swimming, Fiji’s Paul Elaisa came first in the second heat of the men’s 50 metres butterfly with a time of 26.94 seconds while Epeli Rabua Herbert who was swimming in the third heat of the men’s 50 metres butterfly clocked a time of 26.34 seconds.

Meanwhile, England and Canada will challenge Australia for the title of top Commonwealth swimming nation.

In the women’s Hockey competition, Wales beat India 3-2 while New Zealand defeated Scotland 6-1.

Fiji last won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Judo in 2002 through Nacanieli Takayawa at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England and in 1982 in Brisbane which was won by light heavyweight boxer Sani Fine.
