Thousands of people coming towards Suva were stuck in a huge traffic jam this morning as two lanes along Laqere Road were closed to traffic.
Concerned citizens have confirmed to Fijivillage that the Fiji Roads Authority workers had placed machinery along the two lanes at around 6.30 this morning.
The machinery was cleared from the road at around 7.12am this morning after we highlighted the issue at 7am.
We have sent questions to the Fiji Roads Authority as to why this was done as they had earlier said that no road works would be carried out between 6am to 9am on weekdays and no equipment will be put on busy lanes before 9am.
A similar case had occurred yesterday and when we raised the issue, FRA said that the milling machine ran into an unforeseen mechanical fault causing the delay in clearing the lane.
