The Ministry of Waterways has deployed teams of technical staff and resources to assist in clearing off waterways and drains of silt and debris.
Minister Mahendra Reddy says their engineers have completed the flood assessment of drains after Tropical Cyclone Josie.
He says the scoping works in the flood-prone areas of Western Division have been concluded and they have assigned contracts for works in Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua and Ra.
These works are worth $556,966.
He says their contractors will start deploying their machines from today.
Reddy adds that the Ministry has deployed a team to clear waterways of debris from Sigatoka to RakiRaki.
