The 35-year-old taxi driver who allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl in 2016 told the court that the girl had written a note for him on a receipt book in his taxi.
Rajinesh Kamal Narayan informed the court that in the note the girl had written ‘I love you, don’t do anything’.
It is alleged that on the 13th of September, 2016 the girl and Narayan went to Suva Point where he raped her inside his taxi.
Judge Justice Salesi Temo questioned Narayan on whether he knew the girl was 16 years old and that there was an age difference of 17 years.
Narayan said that he was aware of the girl’s age.
Narayan further admitted that the 16-year-old was his girlfriend and that his wife was aware of their relationship.
However, when his wife gave evidence, she informed the court that she did not know that Narayan was in a relationship with the girl as he had only told her that he was talking with a girl.
Narayan told the court that nothing had happened on the 13th of September 2016, as he had only taken the girl to Suva Point upon her request.
He adds that the girl told him to drop her off at Suva Point and go and when he asked her what she was going to do at that hour in Suva Point, the girl told him that it was none of his business and that he should just drop her and leave.
Justice Temo will sum up the case at 2.15 this afternoon.
