People living in the low lying areas in the Northern Division are being urged to move to high ground as river flooding is expected to affect many parts of the North from later today into the weekend.
Divisional Police Commander SSP Eparama Waqa says there are 6 evacuation centres in Labasa which are sheltering 67 families.
SSP Waqa says the 6 families which were sheltering in Vunivesi in Savusavu have returned to their homes to start their clean up for now.
He says the officers are ready to attend to calls for help.
SSP Waqa says they have arranged for boats to access areas that are flooded, to transport people to evacuation centers.
