Police are asking members of the public to cooperate with the authorities as they assist in moving people to safety.

Police Acting Chief of Operations, ACP Maretino Qiolevu says officers in the Northern Division had encountered an incident whereby residents of a settlement refused to move when asked by officers as flood waters threatened their safety.

Qiolevu says there are several factors as to why officers will make the decision to evacuate people and that is for the safety of the affected people and also for the safety of the evacuating officers.

He adds that officers will also move people during the day if the need arises as it is more dangerous to be moving around at night.

Qiolevu is urging the people to work with his officers.
