The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team has won their second pool match of the Hong Kong 7s after thrashing Russia 36-14.
The national side continued to send a strong message to all the teams as they aim to win the Hong Kong 7s title four years in a row.
Veteran forward Isake Katonibau opened the scores after 30 seconds from kick-off before Semi Kunatani scored their second try in the 2nd minute.
Katonibau’s support play led him to score his second try from an offload made by former HSBC Player Of the Year Samisoni Viriviri.
Kunatani had the final say in the first half as he muscled his way through three Russians defenders to score Fiji’s fourth try.
Fiji was leading 24-7 at halftime with Russia also scoring a try before the break.
Kunatani again broke the Russian defence to score a hat-trick before Josua Vakurinabili scored Fiji’s last try.
