We are all in the same canoe and time is running out. Please show the leadership that the world so desperately needs.

That is the call of Prime Minister and COP23 President, Voreqe Bainimarama on nations to do more to raise the ambition of their Nationally Determined Contributions for reducing greenhouse gas and emissions.

Bainimarama made this call today during the wrap‑up meeting of the Presidencies Talanoa Dialogue in Bonn, Germany.

He says he was encouraged to see delegates actively engage in the processes, and embracing the Talanoa Spirit.

Bainimarama also said that processes should be made easier for the vulnerable nations to gain access to the finance they need to build their resilience.

He asked the nations to do more to embrace the opportunities that will flow for their own people and the whole world from the transition to net‑zero emissions economies.

Bainimarama also called on all nations to work with the vulnerable nations as members of the great human family to confront this challenge once and for all.
