The Lions are second with 40 points while the Waratahs are third with 31 points.
In fourth place are the Hurricanes with 45 points while the Chiefs are fifth with 37 points.
The Sunwolves sit at the bottom of the table with 10 points.
In Super Rugby matches this week, the Highlanders will meet the Hurricanes at 7.35pm Friday, the Blues will meet the Rebels at 5.15pm, the Chiefs will face the Crusaders at 7.35pm Saturday, the Waratahs meet the Reds at 9.45pm Saturday.
The Brumbies meet the Sunwolves at 6.05pm Sunday.
